Natural Pigments & Cosmetics
Explore how to make natural pigments from rocks, plants and soils, and turn them into cosmetics such as lip balms and cheek tints. Participants take home their own natural creations.

Itinerary

Introductions and kitting up with water bottles, harvesting tools and teams. Transport to the UCanGrow pack shed.
- 214:00 – 15:00
Making pigments: the history of rock art — blood, mud, bones and ash. Capturing nature with gum arabic and oils.
- 315:00 – 16:00
Field trip harvesting flowers, lichens, clays and rock sediment.
- 416:00 – 17:00
Making colour, storing colour, and drying down to pigments.
- 517:00 – 18:00
Natural pigments into watercolour, oil paints and cosmetics.
- 618:00 – 18:30
